Mallu Magalhães

Stage: Matriz Map
01 July, 22:15

It is somewhere between the Estrela and the Lapa neighbourhoods, in Lisbon, where she has lived for about nine years with her husband, also musician Marcelo Camelo, who Mallu Magalhães has her base. It was here that she composed and rehearsed the themes for the latest album, Esperança, released in the middle of last year and initially scheduled for 2020. The work was produced by the American Mario Caldato Jr., a regular collaborator of the Beastie Boys, and is one of the most ambitious and complete of the Brazilian singer, who began her solo career as a teenager, at the age of 16, with a self-titled album released in 2008. Since then she has established herself as one of the most solid stars of the new MPB, both solo (she already has five records in her own name) or as a member of Banda do Mar, the Portuguese-Brazilian collective formed with Marcelo Camelo and Portuguese drummer Fred Ferreira, a member of Orelha Negra. After the great year she had in 2018, with concerts in the most emblematic rooms in the country and in Madrid, Barcelona and Amsterdam, where she performed in a more intimate format of voice and guitar, it is with this praised work that Mallu Magalhães now returns to the stages, after a prolonged absence due to the pandemic.
